Burnes particularly pitched well in May with a 2.08 ERA and 2-2 record in six starts. If Burnes can limit the homers and put the Brewers in position to win the NL Central, hell be in the running for another Cy Young.Justin Verlander, Astros (+425). The 39-year-old righty has not shown any signs of slowing down this season after mi sing last year due to Tommy John surgery, posting a 7-2 record with an ERA of 2.13 (10th in the majors) in 11 starts. Verlander also has 73 strikeouts in 71.2 innings.Verlander took home the AL Cy Young 2011 (Detroit) and in 19 (Houston). That year, he led the majors with a 21-6 record and posted a 2.58 ERA in 34 starts. He also cro sed the 300-strikeout threshold for the first time in his career, doing so in just 223 innings. Its unlikely that Verlander will hit 300 Ks Roquan Smith Jersey this season; however, at +425 odds, hes worth hedging a bet on, especially if the Astros can finish with one of the best records in the AL. Sandy Alcantara, Marlins (+600). Quietly as its been kept, Alcantara has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the past few years. Hes posted just 18 wins in his past 51 regular-season starts, but thats more indicative of how the Marlins play behind him. On the other hand, Alcantara has 37 quality starts over that time, which shows how good hes been for Miami.This season, the 26-year-old righty is 6-2 with a 1.81 through 11 starts and has 71 strikeouts in 74.2 innings. Alcantara is tied for the second-best odds with San Diegos Joe Musgrove, who has been great for the Padres this season. Alcantara can make his case stronger if he keeps his ERA under 2.00, which is going to be hard to do. However, hes worth betting on because he plays a significant part in the Marlins succe s.Alek Manoah, Blue Jays (+900). The 24-year-old righty is pitching like a veteran on the mound this year with a 7-1 record and 1.81 ERA through 11 starts. Manoah has not racked up the strikeouts which he did last year (10.2 K/9 ratio compared to 7.9 this year), but he still has 61 strikeouts in 69.2 innings this season. The Jays are seven games behind the Yankees in the AL East, but they are solidly in position to earn an AL wild card. If Toronto can hold onto one of those postseason spots with Manoah leading the way, he could be one of the finalists for the award. Zac Gallen, Diamondbacks (+1800). With there being a lot of good pitchers in the National League having great seasons, Gallen will be viewed as a long shot. If it was any other year and the Diamondbacks were playing better, we would hear more noise about Gallen being a Cy Young candidate.The 26-year-old righty is having a career year with a 4-1 record, 2.40 ERA (13th best in the majors), and 53 strikeouts in 56.1 innings. This year has been a revelation for Gallen, who was 4-10 with a 4.30 ERA last season, thanks in large part to the 19 HRs he allowed. He wont get a lot of attention since the Mariners have fallen short of expectations and play on the West Coast; however, he has a bright future ahead of him and will be in the Cy Young convo for years to come.
