The Halloween event that is held in the evening on October 31st is the best way to get started, and the best way to get started is to find and meet Jack near the plaza where Resident Services is located on your island. The event is called "Halloween in the Dark."He will tell you that he is the current ruler of Halloween and ask you to assist him in gathering some candy for the holiday. He will introduce himself to you in this capacity.
If you have been purchasing Candy from Nook's Cranny throughout the month of October, you should already have some Candy to give him. If you haven't been purchasing Candy from Nook's Cranny, you should start doing so. If this is the case, then we strongly advise that you give him some Candy as soon as you can after realizing what's happening.
If you feed Jack Candy twice, he will reward you with the Jack's Robe and the Jack's Face costume clothing items. These can be obtained by talking to Jack. Both of these items are displayed further down on this page. After that, the only thing he will give out is sets of Pumpkins, so it is a waste of your time to ask for a third piece of Candy or anything else beyond that. He will only give out sets of Pumpkins. Pumpkins will only be given out in sets from him. Do you not have any Candy in your possession? Find a neighboring villager who is outside and dressed up, then speak with them to earn a one-time bonus of three pieces of candy. This villager must be outside.
It is time to turn your attention to your villager companions after you have said hello to Jack and offered him a few pieces of Candy in exchange for the Jack's Robe and Jack's Face articles of clothing. You will notice that many of the villagers on your island will be walking around outside dressed in adorable costumes throughout the course of the Halloween evening. This is something that you will notice as the evening progresses. The Trick or Treat interaction will begin once you have a conversation with them, and once it has begun, you will be able to give them a piece of candy as a reward.
When you give Candy to a villager, you will receive either a scrumptious Lollipop, one of two distinct Spooky Set DIY Crafting Recipes, or one of five distinct items from the Spooky Set. You can choose which of these three rewards you want when you give the Candy to the villager. On each of these occasions, you will receive one of these items, but which one will be given to you is completely up to chance.
