Recently, BA Technology has completed the actual engineering deployment of bidirectional transmission of 4*100G high-speed data services in a single fiber on the existing overseas network and delivered it to customers. The actual length of the optical fiber link is about 40km, and the loss is about 25dB; the successful implementation of this project indicates that BA Technology's ultra-large-capacity wavelength division transmission technology has been fully commercialized.
With the advancement of DCI interconnection, the demand for large-capacity and long-distance transmission is increasing. When the transmission distance is long, the coherent modulation transmission module and technology are generally used, with wavelength division multiplexing and fiber amplifiers, which can carry a transmission capacity of 19.2T or even higher on one optical fiber, and the farthest transmission can reach 1000Km, or even 2000Km; but due to the complex technology and high cost of coherent transmission modules, they are generally mainly used in trunk transmission links.
When the transmission distance is less than 40Km, 100G optical modules of LR4 or ER4 are usually used for direct link connection, and combined with SOA (Semiconductor Optical Amplifier) technology, the transmission distance between two points can reach 40Km or even 80km. But usually the transmission capacity is only 100G. In order to increase the optical fiber transmission capacity, more and more optical module manufacturers have begun to launch single-channel 53G or 100G rate DWDM optical modules, which can directly transmit 100G data through one or two DWDM wavelengths. The introduction of this module greatly increases the bandwidth of optical fiber transmission in medium and short distance application scenarios, and reduces the cost of transmission.
