How to Use Items and Equip Them to Your Pouch According to the Elden Ring

This guide's primary objective is to shed some light on both of these topics

This guide's primary objective is to shed some light on both of these topics. Within its pages, players will find comprehensive information on how to access Elden Ring's Pouch, how to assign items to the Pouch, and how to use those items quickly in the heat of battle (or whenever the need arises).

The following was modified on July 16, 2023 by Erik Petrovich:Players who are interested in learning how to access the pouch in Elden Ring and how to make the most of this brand-new gameplay mechanic will discover that certain items are significantly more useful than others. The Pouch is essentially a way for players to access their inventory without having to navigate all of the sub-menus of the full inventory. Players can do this by dragging and dropping items into the Pouch from their full inventory. Despite the fact that it does not permit players to equip new weapons, armor, or spells, it can be used for a wide variety of other consumable items, such as Torrent's whistle, Lanterns, Spirit Ash summons, and of course Throwable and literally consumable items.

How to Put Items in the Pouch of the Elden RingThe Elden Ring has a menu that allows you to quickly select and equip items.

How to Get Into the Pouch

By pressing the Menu button on your controller, Elden Ring players can access their pouch. This brings up a tabbed list of selectable menus on the left, a list of emotes on the bottom right, and the pouch itself on the top right.

These two Elden Ring pouch slots can only be used if selected directly from this menu, which is still faster than going through the inventory. You should see four slots with assigned d-pad inputs and two slots with no inputs. Simply scroll to the right on the D-pad while the main menu is open, or scroll up from the emotes list to select a slot in the Pouch.

Instructions for Placing Items in a Pouch

- Players of the Elden Ring can quickly assign a new item to a quick select Pouch by scrolling to the Pouch in question and then pressing the input that is highlighted to do so

- That input should be Triangle or Y by default, and doing so will open the inventory in Elden Ring so that players can select a consumable

- The screen will then return to the main menu, at which point the newly assigned item – regardless of whether it is a consumable, key item, throwable, or other type of item – should be available for use, provided that you have at least one of it in your inventory

How to Make Use of Elden Ring's Pouch Items

Once players have assigned items to the pouch on the Elden Ring, they are able to use those items by simultaneously pressing the Interact button (Y or Triangle) and the input on the d-pad corresponding to one of the available slots. While you continue to hold down the Interact button, the menu on the bottom left will change to display your available pouch slots rather than the Quick Items and armaments you currently have equipped. This gives the Pouch the ability to essentially function as a quick-select wheel; however, it is important to keep in mind that the bottom two slots in the six-slot pouch do not appear here and must be used directly from the menu in order to be accessed.

The distinction lies in the fact that Quick Items are those ten items that players can cycle through by using the down directional input. These items can be used by pressing either X or Square. Because only one can be accessed at a time, you will need to switch between the different equipped items in order to make use of them.

On the other hand, Elden Ring pouch items can be used much more quickly because you only need to hold down the Interact button to access multiple items at once, unlike other items in the game. It is recommended that you keep the Quick Items bar clear, with the exception of flasks, so that you can swap items quickly even when the action is intense. Instead, you should store consumables and other items in the pouch.

The best items for the pouch are tarnished, and a torrent is about to attack.

Some things are more useful to have in the pouch than others. For example, the Spectral Steed Whistle is a common one to have in the pouch because it makes mounting Torrent much quicker than it would be otherwise. Other useful options include your preferred Spirit Ashes, a Lantern, Boluses for Poison or Scarlet Rot, and Prattling Pates for communicating (and laughing) with other players who are enjoying themselves while working together.

The Torrent should be equipped to the top slot, a Spirit Ash and some kind of Consumable item should be in the left and right slots, and the Lantern should be equipped to the bottom slot for easy access in caves and other darkened areas. This is a good layout for Elden Ring players who are just starting out with the item. You can use the two remaining slots to store Prattling Pates, place messages, or any other consumables that do not have to be used in the middle of a fight. There is one item that can be used on demand and two that must be chosen from the menu in addition to Torrent, a Spirit Ash, and a Lantern, which are all almost required to have.
