The development of Total War, beginning with Shogun and continuing with WarhammerAt this point in time, the lineage of Total War is the stuff that legends are made of. As we approach the conclusion of the Warhammer saga, Diablo 2 items for sale we thought it would be appropriate to take a look back at the game's past.

The long-running real-time strategy saga created by Creative Assembly is one of the few franchises that can claim an undisputed position on the list of the best games of all time. Total War spanned the ages by expanding on the foundations laid by its predecessors in the strategy gaming genre. The game gave players access to previously unseen levels of depth as well as tactical freedom at their fingertips.

If we travel all the way back to the year 2000, we'll find that the very first installment in this venerable series was called Total War: Shogun. In this game, players were in charge of the merciless armies of feudal Japan. Players were able to fully immerse themselves in the role of an all-powerful Shogun by participating in top-down battle scenarios and engaging in brain-teasing empire management.

The game's players' imaginations were captured by the game's intricate battle scenarios and immersive empire management. It gave players the impression that they were in the thick of a real war effort because they were required to make strategic decisions such as where and when to engage enemies, whether they would fight head-on or flank their opponents, whether they would use mounted troops or foot soldiers, and a variety of other options.

Time goes on inexorably. As the story progressed through the ages, the strategies that were available became progressively more varied and sophisticated. Players of Medieval: Total War were given the opportunity to command a cavalry of knights and archers in some of the bloodiest battles of the time period, which brought the conflict to Europe. As players ventured into the realm of Caesar in Rome: Total War, an additional layer of complexity was added to the proceedings.
